Weight Watchers | The Mother Issue

Weight Watchers didn’t have an awareness problem; it had a consideration problem. For many, it was still “something my mom did.” When a WW Instagram post featuring old Weight Watchers Magazine covers sparked nostalgia, we saw an opportunity to turn the brand’s history into something culturally relevant for a new generation. The Mother Issue transformed “not your mother’s Weight Watchers” into “we are mother,” tapping into the Gen Z mantra while showing how the brand had evolved. The idea came to life through five talent-led covers featuring influencers who authentically used WW, social-first video, BTS, trends, and an online cover story, supported by an integrated influencer, organic, paid, and earned rollout. Built from idea to launch in less than a month, it became WeightWatchers’ most successful social campaign to date—generating 22M+ organic video views, 1M+ engagements, 20K+ site clicks, and 90% non-follower reach, while sparking genuine conversation across social and Reddit and earning coverage in Ad Age and People.

Our Role:

As WW’s brand-side Social & Influencer lead, we led The Mother Issue end to end—identifying the opportunity, originating the concept, and shaping the campaign strategy, messaging, and creative. From there, we led talent strategy and casting, oversaw production, and built the social and influencer rollout across organic, paid, and earned. The result is representative of how we work with brands today: from identifying the opportunity and developing the big idea to assembling the right talent and partners and bringing it to market.
